Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he enjoyed taking part in different card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming very aggressive in the above-mentioned card games while competing against his father. He theorized he could improve his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to get more sleep and concentrate even more on the game.
The actual advancement in his abilities happened when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best gamblers would often challenge one another. Howard was able to access several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard would tweak his logical thinking skills. Howard applied these strategic concepts to the game of No-Limit holdem.
He also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was a superb student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to move out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest female players the poker arena today. He relocated to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and played money games for the successive decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
