Omaha Hi-Lo: Fundamental Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most difficult but well-loved poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once obscure game, has expanded in acceptance so amazingly.
Omaha hi low starts like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A round of wagering follows in which gamblers can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are given out, this is known as the flop. One more round of betting happens. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, a further card is revealed on the turn. an additional sequence of betting follows at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to make the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is where many players can get confused. Unlike Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player has to use precisely three cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is just what it sounds like. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It’s the very same approach in just about every poker game.
The low hand is more complex, but really opens up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that could be made, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The low hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand wins the whole pot.
It may seem complex initially, after a few rounds you will be able to pick up on the basic subtleties of play simply enough. Since you have people wagering for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at the same time, Omaha 8 or better offers an amazing assortment of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have many individuals trying for the high hand, along with several battling for the low. If you love a game with a lot of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha/8.
