Pai Gow Poker is a current game with old origins. Built on the old Chinese domino game and the current American adaptation of poker, Pai Gow poker combines the eastern with the west in a wonderful game for new players.
Pai Gow is a poker game that puts the player vs. the house, unlike almost all other poker games that players wager with other gamblers. By betting against the dealer, starting players don’t have to worry about any other, more advanced players winning their $$$$.
An additional Pai Gow edge is the relatively slow game play, rookies will be able to take their time and strategize without having to make quick choices.
It is also simpler to wager on for a long time with only a small amount of money since, to not win, each of your hands needs to be under each of the dealer’s hands.
Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the regular 52-card common deck and one joker. The player is assigned 7 cards face up and the croupier receives 7 cards face down.
A five card hand and one two card hand need to be made from the 7 cards dealt, the five card hand must be better than the two card hand. To win, a player is required to have both of his hand totals to be larger than the casino’s.
