No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
