Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard about.
