Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While gambling on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
