Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

[ English ]

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the closing table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While wagering on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
