Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts in the world. While participating in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
