Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Posted in Poker on 01/20/2019 06:25 pm by SkylaGus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
