No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
