Texas Hold em Poker : Semi-Bluffing and Defensive Wagering

Seems like most persons are usually talking about pre-flop method, so I wanted to speak a little bit about how I wager on immediately after the flop. Perhaps I can aid others, or maybe they have advice to improve my play.
I consider that two of the most important plays immediately after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive wager. Which is because these are the plays you make once you havent hit a hand except you’ve a great drawing hand. Its easy to play a hand when you flop a monster. Except I believe that these two are the best techniques to wager on a drawing. Each one is played depending on you opponent(s) and your postion. So here is how I play it, so tell me what you think.
Early Position – Tight Competitors:
A semi-bluff works fairly properly in this position. Arrive out gambling and if a tight player did not hit a hand he will probably lay down, and if he’s unsure you may well get a call. Except watch out, if that tight player comes back over the best it may well be time to get away.
Early Place – Loose Opponents
This is had been I like to complete a defensive wager. Come to a decision how several chips you’re willing to chance on your draw and bet. This can be normally a much smaller bet than normal. It has been my understanding that the loose player will usually just call a wager rather than re-raise. Nevertheless, should you check to them, theyre more likely to throw in additional chips than your willing to pay.
Late Position – Tight Opponents
It is the best time to try and do a semi-bluff, especially if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you’ll probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler before has bet, you’ve to choose if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he’ll probably go away since he was trying to steal the pot. In the event you consider he does, nicely then it’s time to compute your odds, and choose if the pot odds are worth the call.
Late Placement – Loose Competitors
This one can be a bit tricky, simply because it’s harder to put a loose player on a hand. And if your in late placement against loose player, odds are they have already bet. Chances are although even a loose gambler will go away if you arrive back strong enough.
Don’t forget although that these are moves I only produce immediately after the flop comes and I have a respectable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Perhaps 4 to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
