Hiding Tells

I also love to watch individuals gamble. No 2 poker faces seem the same. When I bet I like to feel I put on a poker face which is impenetrable. Except I know I have specific personal habits. For 1, the only time I smoke is when I wager on poker or Black jack. And then I smoke. But I chain smoke no matter whether I am succeeding or losing, whether I’ve a good hand or bad.
I once played inside a weekly poker game. The casino game was generally 5 card draw. There was a gentleman who wagered with us every week who usually wore a hat. When he was given a great hand, subconsciously, he would begin touching and betting with his hat. Needless to say, he in no way won.
The very best poker gambler I ever saw was a gentleman who manufactured much more actions and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever met. He was impressive in the way he dressed. Generally an high priced suit and tie, boots shined and nails manicured. He was diligent in this manner. And he was constantly brushing his pants or holding his hands or putting his chips in neat little piles.
I use to analyze him for hours. I would tried to see if I could spot his tell. Choosing lint off his shirt- did this imply he was bluffing? Arranging his chips within a short pile – did this imply he had a good hand?
Many years later I ran into him within a bar in Chicago, il and we had a beverage. I asked him if he were aware of all those activities he created or if they have been subconscious. He informed me that just about every individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is usually checking out everyone else’s poker face. They are trying to detect the the tell.
So his method was to give them lots to believe about. His thinking was if they have been thinking about him picking a piece of fuzz off his vest and what it meant they positive weren’t pondering about their cards.
His method was distraction. And it worked for him. By no means give up a process that works for you.
